This position plays a key role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance, while supporting the organization’s strategic growth. The Financial Officer will work closely with the CEO to perform reconciliations, produce timely financial reports, and maintain strong accounting controls. This is a unique opportunity with excellent potential for professional advancement. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and banking transactions
- Perform monthly and quarterly financial reconciliations and reporting in collaboration with the CEO
- Oversee financial systems and ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial recordkeeping and reporting (including payroll tax filings)
- Monitor and review new loan applications submitted through the organization’s online loan origination platform
- Process loan data, manage loan servicing, and track disbursements and repayments
- Provide technical assistance to borrowers as needed
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with strong knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and administrative skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in nonprofit accounting or work within a nonprofit environment
- Ability to present financial data clearly through both narrative and graphic formats
- Familiarity with loan servicing systems and microloan programs
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work regular weekdays, with occasional availability for evenings or weekends as needed
- Able to use a computer and standard office equipment
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
